Trendy Master Bathroom with Mullioned Shower Surround in Penn Oaks

In the past we have completed numerous projects for these clients in Penn Oaks located in East York. This project consisted of renovating the owner’s master bathroom. Originally there was a large platform corner garden tub that was in front of windows. We removed a small acrylic shower stall with a chrome slider shower door and removed a dividing wall between the corner garden tub and shower stall. The thought was to entirely remove the tub and replace it with custom cabinetry that could be utilized as bench seating and storage area underneath.

The double vanity was updated but kept in the same space. We installed Moen’s Cia matte black 2 handle lav faucets. The spout's contemporary curves and handle's defined edges combine with elegant details for a look that feels classic, yet fresh. We also used Moen’s Cia in the bathroom shower trim and transfer valve. It was paired with Moen’s matte black Eco-Performance handheld shower and a matte black 2.5 GPM rainfall showerhead.

Roca Maiolica Hexagon White 6x7 tile were installed on 2 full shower walls and the half wall.

The curbs were tiled with 6x7 and side walls of niche as well. We used Roca CC Penny round grey glossy mosaics were used on the shower floor and in the back wall of the 12x20 niche. A Kerdi floral patterned, matte black drain grate was selected.

A custom glass mullioned shower surround in matte black was selected. AKA as a “telephone booth shower” or “grid shower”, the more technical name for this eye-catching style is a “mullioned shower.” The design is graphic, simple, elegant, and timeless. People are often drawn to these doors vintage, industrial appeal.

On the floor we installed Daltile’s dark brown 6x36 wood look ceramic tile. Willow Bend embraces both traditional and modern style. The double doors at the entrance into the bathroom were replaced with a wooden, space saving barn style sliding door. For a unique visual interest, the wall behind the vanity was covered with white wood shiplap.
