Spacious Open Concept Kitchen in Craley, PA
This once dark and dated kitchen has been dramatically transformed into a new and open space by removing a supporting wall between the kitchen and great room. A large peninsula area with seating to comfortably fit five bar stools now separates the two areas, which is a bonus for entertaining. The cathedral ceiling in the family was updated with decorative coffered moldings, adding appeal and interest to the adjoining room. Elias’s custom, Folkstone Grey painted kitchen birch cabinetry were selected. Berenson’s traditional weathered nickel cup pulls and round mushroom knobs were selected for the cabinetry. A custom Stanisci wood hood L2 Series was installed and custom painted Folkstone Grey to match the perimeter cabinetry.
The center island cabinetry is stained Artic Whale which is a very brackish dark grey. The island was topped with leathered Krypton Quartzite which is a gorgeous silver, grey blue from Brazil. Words can’t describe this stone, it’s a masterpiece made by nature. It has a unique wavy pattern and its unique color offer a strong visual impact. Black Leathered Pearl granite was selected for the perimeter countertops, which pairs beautifully with the Krypton quartzite island but doesn’t compete with its boldness. On the walls behind the countertops we installed handcrafted translucent glass 2x6 field tiles by Lunada Bay Tile in the Argon color with a silk finish. A large 30” single bowl Ruvati Verona stainless steel apron front farmhouse style sink was installed. The Ruvati workstation design features a built-in ledge that provides a platform for its unique accessories. The Verona collection features the perfect trio: a solid hardwood cutting board, a stainless-steel colander, and a foldable drying rack.
A 35qt maple double Rev-A-Shelf waste container w/slow close was installed along with a natural maple blind corner pivotal ½ moon lazy susan which allows easy access to the corner cabinet. A sliding pull-out bottom drawer was incorporated for easy access to items as well. A Rev-A-Shelf 55 slot knife drawer was installed, it features two rows of slots and a unique hilt rest that keeps knives straight and provides ample finger space for easy removal.
Mannington’s ADURA® APEX LVP in Spalted Wych Elm, Mushroom was installed throughout the updated kitchen and great room. Each 8x72 plank features unique organic spalting, rich tonal variation and painted beveled edges that all add levels of interest which creates a beautiful look.
New dimmable LED high hats were strategically placed throughout the kitchen. Dimmable LED under-the-counter lighting was installed as well. Three tear drop shaped marbleized soft grey and black glass pendants were hung above the peninsula between the great room and bar area. A Troy Union Square 42” graphite island chandelier was hung above the center island. Its 5-light cylindrical smoked glass shades with a graphite finish, over hand-worked iron finish frame, adds a touch of industrial chic. A Velux 14” Sun Tunnel Skylight was installed in the kitchen which brings natural light into the space.
