1980's Kitchen Gets a Redo in York, PA
Long time clients decided it was time to update their kitchen with some minor layout changes and fresh new cabinetry. We designed this kitchen with a couple of minor nuisances which created a better suited traffic pattern and provided more cabinet storage by reducing the size of one of the peninsulas and removing the overhead bulkheads. An existing storage closet was removed and a custom built-in wall panty was added with solid wood pullout drawers for easy access.
Red Oak Remodeling installed Elias Custom solid white maple cabinetry in Folk Stone Grey with the Milan profile. A combination of Berenson’s 7 ½” T-Bars and contemporary square knobs in brushed nickel were selected for cabinetry hardware. A Rev-A-Shelf double slow motion pull-out trashcan bin and a corner double wooden lazy susan were installed. Viatera’s Minuet quartz was selected for the countertops which is a soft white, with neutral and faint patterns which included beiges and light gray veining. The previous granite counter was a blackish brown black stone making the room seem very dark, the existing cabinetry was a pecan color.
Adex’s glossy Habitat Pewter 2x10 and 2x5 field tile backsplash coordinates nicely with the soft grey cabinetry and a hand painted 3x6 Flower Deco was added as an accent and focal point. An Elkay Classic quartz 60/40 undermount sink in Greystone with a low divide was installed. Under the cabinet low voltage dimmable lighting was added for additional task and accent lighting. Overhead dimmable high hats were added for the main sources of task lighting. The floor was updated with Armstrong’s Alterna, LVT 12 x 24 tiles, in the Forrest Fog color set on running bond pattern with Smoke colored grey grout.
The existing brick wall in the kitchen was salvaged and kept intact providing an aesthetic touch.
The perimeter kitchen walls were painted with Sherwin-Williams - Proper Gray, SW #6003 giving the room a fresh new clean look.
