Charming Farmhouse Kitchen in Stewartstown, PA Gets a Major Update

Charming Farmhouse Kitchen in Stewartstown, PA Gets a Major Update

Our clients fell in love with this property several years ago after they relocated to York County. Along with several acres is an early 1900's circa farmhouse nestled in a grove of trees in the country. The clients knew they wanted to curate the small kitchen when they purchased the property keeping the old farmhouse look and feel intact. It was a challenge creating a design is the existing small space. We enlarged the kitchen by removing the load bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room which created more space. All of the bulkheads in the kitchen were removed as well. An LVL beam was installed for structural support which was wrapped in oak and stained walnut to coordinate with the design theme.

Fabuwood’s Allure Galaxy, a shaker style cabinet with simple, clean lines and minimalist design in a nickel painted finish were installed. We installed a tall built-in hutch with glass doors and four small bottom pullout drawers to show off china and collectibles. A small peninsula now divides the kitchen and dining room space and serves as additional countertop and storage below. Berenson’s matte black Hearthstone pulls were selected which convey a strong and sturdy design. The cabinets are topped with natural honed waxed soapstone countertops. It’s a gorgeous dark charcoal black with thin white striated veining in a matte finish. Arctic Super White by Qualis Ceramica 2x10 glossy ceramic subway tile was installed on the backsplash. Each tile has significant multi-tonal variations similar to Zellige tiles.

To keep the farmhouse feel a Ruvati white porcelain apron farmhouse single bowl sink was selected. Keeping with the period we installed Moen’s chrome Weymouth bridge pull-down kitchen faucet with Cross T handles, a small detail includes porcelain inlays that feature Euro-influenced decorative script that make an extravagant statement. A matching Moen chrome soap dispenser was installed as well.

The old linoleum floor was removed to make way for a custom handcrafted fireclay brick tile floor. These 4x8’s bricks offer a distinctly worn brick floor look and feel. They add a timeless elegance to the kitchen and it seems like you are back in the early 1900’s.

Retro Big Chill’s frig and slide-in stove in matte black, blend a vintage vibe with modern performance. Above the slide-in we installed a Designer Series stainless steel ZLINE wall mounted range hood with decorative bands of rivets.

Client Review: We chose Red Oak because we wanted a first class team we felt would be easy to work with, and we were right! Any concerns/questions we had were immediately addressed. We had a difficult small farmhouse kitchen that Red Oak was able to transform into a more open beautiful, rustic space. It is getting rave reviews from our friends and family.
